"Where Jamming"

Been off work today so made the most of it. Been busy I the kitchen, made a batch of plum jam from plums picked from the tree in the garden and some jam tarts with the children using strawberry jam made earlier in the month. The kids had a great time but the washing up after was a mammoth job the one job the children didn't want to help with! Worth it though after tasting end results.
This is another holiday snap, Seamer Waters beautiful tranqil place well it was till my two turned up and had to throw stones into the water. You can see one splash on the bottom left of the photo.

Not To Camp That Is The Answer

No we didn't camp we stayed in a cottage instead, far warmer. It was lovely we went up to the Yorkshire Dales, everyone had a great time we did loads didn't stop.
Here's a few pictures of what we did and saw.

Like father like son, the boy's waiting for a drink.

(I think the Old Peculier sign refers to bazza)

We visited Aysgarth Falls, it's an amazing place.

I think this is where the phrase ugly duckling came from but the children enjoyed feeding him!

To camp or not to camp that is the question ?

Was planning a family camping trip to start tomorrow but weather not looking good. Rain on most forecasts except for one site which states cloudy with sunny periods. Who do you believe ? Do we stay and it's fine and we wished we'd gone or do we go and get rained out, difficult especially when you have two small children to consider. British weather HUH!
Well if you hear from me tomorrow we stayed if not where totally mad and gone for it!

E Mail

Receiveved this E Mail and had to share it with you because it, so true
This one is for everyone who
a) has kids> >
b) had kids> >
c) was a kid> >
d) knows a kid> >
e) is going to have kids> >
I was packing for my business trip and my 3-year old daughter was having a wonderful time playing on the bed. At one point she said,"Daddy, look at this," and stuck out two of her fingers. Trying to keep her entertained, I reached out and stuck her tiny fingers in my mouth and said, "Daddy's gonna eat your fingers!"pretending to eat them before I rushed out of the room again. When I returned, my daughter was standing on the bed staring at her fingers with a devastated look on her face. I said, "What's wrong, honey?" She replied, "What happened to my bogey?"

Went to the Grassroots Free Festival with Bazza and the kids today. Had a nice time but no photos I'm afraid due to battery dying. (plenty on Bazza's blog though)

Copy Cat

Today I have been mostly listening to my children, cooking and cleaning as well as being the family hairdresser. At the moment i am watching the X Factor which is a scream. Why some people put themselves through it i just don't know, their family and friends must be great liars or tone deaf.

Not Jack but Katie in a box

If there is an empty box my children have to fill it!

Conkers

A Horse Chestnut tree out side my office brimming with Horse Chestnuts or better known in my parts as Conkers. Loved playing conker when i was a kid.
Do kids still play conkers or is it another one of the simple pleasure replaced by computer games hope not i'll be encourageing my two to have a game with me.

Double Shift

Today is my most tiring day of the week, in the morning I have to wear my professional head, then in the afternoon I turn back into mummy. I don' t know why but I find it exhausting and find myself clock watching, waiting for Bazza to get home to have some support and an extra pair of eyes. The children also seem to have a problem with the split shift, they're always more hyper or does it only seem that way to me as i'm more tired.
I don't do myself any favours as I tend to do my weekly shopping today, and as you will have read on a previous blog it can be pretty traumatic, though today wasn't to bad, they both did really well, just bumping into people not wine bottles for a change.

Nannie Retires

My mum has been helping me with child care for the last 4 years and as been a god send. Mum as been traveling on a weekly basis from Leeds by train to take care of them, this as ment a night away from my dad and her bed every week for the last 4 years. Today and tommorow are her last day's as my little girl is starting school soon and my son as started to enjoy nursery so to give mum the rest she deserves were increasing his hours. It will be stange her not been here every week, the children will really miss her and bazza will have no one to poke fun at (as son in laws tend to do).
Thanks Mum you've been a star!

Back to the grind

Doing my payed job today, though i'd say looking after my 2 children was the harder job and i don't get a penny for it (bazza might not agree) but it's the best job the one i enjoy the most. Mixed feelings about going to work because i would rather be at home but it does give me the chance to talk to other people about different things and stops me from completely becoming a children story bore. Also for 2 & half days i can hear myself think its just most of my thinking is still about the children i cannot help myself, all i do is look forward too is getting home and doing mummy things again.

The Good Life

Home grown it tastes better!

Home baked you know what's in it!

Lets play playdough

but it can be very hard work, at least when you're 2 you can sleep it off where you like and in whatever position you want!

The children having fun with homemade playdough it's cheaper and safer!

Rained out

We usually do a family day trip every weekend and I was hoping to take advantage of this by getting some practice with me birthday pressy and hopefully I would have had something interesting to post on me new blog, but it wasn't to be today weather is even worse than yesterday. Not even the rain stops the children, they love it as they're able to get their umbrella's out and welly's and get even dirtier than usual. Thank heavens for stain devils!

flowers from the garden

practice makes perfect i hope !

been having a bit of a practice with me birthday present, needed some time out to get over the shopping trip.

big shop day

today was big shop day! the day my children change from angels to devils, the day i loose the little bit of control i have over them! to me with 2 small children at my side a supermarket becomes a scary place were as my children think there at a fun fair, play trolly rally down the wine aisle and hide and seek at every opportunity why cannot they lay on a creche/play area i'm sure they would make even more profits than they do now.

Park Life

they've got these little fellows (don't know what they are) at one of our local parks in a walk through aivary which i think was a bad idea as they like to peck especially my skirt scared the kids to death.

My two year old son has a duck fetish, to the point that whenever we go in a supermarket we have to buy a loaf of bread to "feed ducks". Allthough not a duck the Canada Goose above is one of his favourite birds.

If you can't beat them.........

Basil bought me a digital camera for my birthday, and if he can blog then so can I.
